| How to use a flexible erectile dysfunction device |
Erectile difficulties and sexual weakness are sensitive issues for a man, as they may affect their intimate connection with their partner and prevent them from achieving a pleasurable sex life.
The issue becomes complicated when medicinal treatments like Viagra fail to overcome it; in that case, the only recourse is penile prostheses, which are a surgical treatment yielding satisfaction for over 90% of men, particularly the malleable implant. Continue reading to learn more about the flexible implant, and how it can be fitted and utilized for satisfactory erection.
Malleable Implants: An Effective Solution for Erectile Dysfunction
Penile prostheses are effective remedies for erection problems, allowing for a firm erection anytime and maintaining it long enough. The benefits of a malleable implant also include the following:
A relatively safe procedure with minor risk due to the absence of severe complications.
Restoration of self-assurance regarding sexual performance.
Satisfactory outcomes for most patients.
A long-term fix for erection issues, as its efficacy may last over 20 years.
Ease of use, as it requires no mental or physical skills.
The cost of a malleable implant is lower than other types.
What are the drawbacks of a malleable implant?
Despite the numerous advantages of the malleable implant, it has some disadvantages such as:
Causing the penis to remain rigid, as if in a permanent state of erection.
Difficulty concealing it under clothing, which might create embarrassment when wearing tight attire.

How does a malleable implant function?
A malleable implant consists of two flexible silicone rods placed inside the penis. It is used by bending the penis away from the body when desiring an erection and intercourse, and then bending it back toward the body when the marital relation is finished.
Who are the suitable candidates for a malleable implant?
Fitting a malleable implant is an effective therapeutic solution for those suffering from the following conditions:
Peyronie's disease, a condition causing penile curvature and pain during attempted erection due to scar tissue formation on the penis.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) that has not responded to other therapeutic interventions like ED pills (Viagra) or penile pumps, which are devices that draw blood into the penis to achieve an erection.
How is the malleable implant procedure performed?
The malleable implant procedure takes about 45 minutes to an hour only and is conducted as follows:
The patient is given general anesthesia so they feel no pain during the operation.
A hollow tube (catheter) is inserted into the urethra to allow urine to exit the bladder during the procedure.
A surgical incision is made either below the head of the penis or at its base.
The appropriate implant size for the penile length is determined.
The two rods are inserted into the corpora cavernosa of the penis.
The surgical incision is closed with absorbable sutures.
Surgical drains are placed to remove excess blood or fluid from the incision site.
What to expect after the malleable implant procedure?
The patient usually returns home the same day as the malleable implant operation. The recovery period varies from person to person; during this time, the patient might experience pain and swelling at the wound site.
How long do pain and swelling last after the malleable implant procedure?
Generally, swelling gradually subsides within a week. An ice pack can be applied to the operated area for 10 minutes repeatedly daily to reduce swelling. Pain may continue for up to 6 weeks, and prescribed pain relievers, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), will help alleviate it.
Are there risks associated with fitting a malleable implant?
The malleable implant placement is a safe surgical procedure, but it may involve some risks, such as:
Infection: Infection can occur within the first three months after the male implant procedure, with a higher probability in diabetic patients. The doctor will then have to remove the implant via another surgery. Thus, it is vital to care for the wound hygiene during recovery by gently cleaning and drying it and washing hands with soap and water before changing dressings.
Implant erosion: The malleable implant may erode or adhere to the skin inside the penis in rare instances, and sometimes it might penetrate the penis, causing infection.
Bleeding.
Damage to the urethra.
No blood flow to the glans (head of the penis).
Scar tissue formation.
Implant size mismatch: Short implants lead to drooping of the glans, and longer implants cause tissue erosion, necessitating further surgery.
Important information about erection and marital relations after malleable implant placement
Here are some facts regarding erection and sexual activity after fitting a malleable implant:
Fitting the male implant will not affect sexual desire or ejaculation.
Male implants do not make the penis longer than it was; in fact, it might become slightly shorter.
The glans will not become erect or rigid because the implant does not reach it.
In most cases, the penis erect with an implant resembles a naturally erect penis in shape and size.
The malleable implant does not alter the sensation in the penile skin.
The wife will not feel a difference between a natural penis or one erect via an implant during marital relations.
